Where does the light go when the fridge is closed?

An educational programme based on Artemis Dourou’s original idea.

The programme “Where does the light go when the fridge is turned off?” is an experiential knowledge and awareness-raising activity on energy saving.

The children travel through the invisible world of electricity, are transported through imaginary cables and play the role of electrons…Wouldn’t it be better to turn off the light and let the electrons, too, dream freely?

The action was piloted in the Theatre of the Modern Greek-English Education Schools with the students of the Kindergarten in May-June 2022 with the cooperation of the institutions:

Community Εnergy River – Educational program design
D’art- The Art Society – Organization of the project
HeterArt – Communication
BNE-zentrum – Idea and consulting support

Participants:

Maya Andreou, Scientific curator
Artemis Dourou, Artistic curator
Anna Vafiadou, Music Educator
Michalis Simopoulos, Lighting Design

with the support of BNE-Zentrum and Respect for Greece.

We would like to thank the school’s administration, the teachers, the technicians, the students of the Kindergarten and all those who participated in the action.

For the school year 2022-2023, the project will be implemented in Kindergartens and 1st & 2nd grade primary schools in Attica.
