The programme “The school community protects the climate” includes two-hour experiential, participatory workshops. The aim of the project is to inform and raise awareness of the school community about climate change, with an emphasis on the energy crisis and the connection between the two. The core of the programme is permeated by democratic education, which contributes to its purpose, with literacy in active citizenship, in order to cultivate in the school community the intention to take action for the environment and energy democracy, through familiarisation with the concept of energy community.
The objectives of the programme are therefore structured along three axes:
- democratic education
- climate literacy
- energy literacy
The project is implemented by Antigone-Information and Documentation Centre in cooperation with Community Energy River and with the support of Heinrich Böll Stiftung Greece.
